PSPCL Seeks Exemption for Technical Staff from Non-Departmental Duties

The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has urged administrative bodies to exempt its engineers and technical staff from non-departmental duties, including election work. The corporation cited critical staff shortages and increasing power demand as reasons for needing personnel to focus on maintaining electricity supply to 1.12 crore consumers. PSPCL highlighted that diverting staff could impact essential services like new connections, complaint resolution, and network maintenance. The company referenced Election Commission of India instructions from 2014 and 2024 supporting such exemptions for technical utilities.

पंजाब स्टेट पावर कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड (PSPCL) ने प्रशासनिक निकायों से अपने इंजीनियरों और तकनीकी कर्मचारियों को चुनाव कार्य सहित गैर-विभागीय कर्तव्यों से छूट देने का आग्रह किया है। निगम ने 1.12 करोड़ उपभोक्ताओं को बिजली आपूर्ति बनाए रखने के लिए कर्मचारियों की भारी कमी और बढ़ती बिजली मांग का हवाला दिया। PSPCL ने बताया कि कर्मचारियों को हटाने से नए कनेक्शन, शिकायत निवारण और नेटवर्क रखरखाव जैसी आवश्यक सेवाओं पर असर पड़ सकता है। कंपनी ने तकनीकी उपयोगिताओं के लिए ऐसी छूटों का समर्थन करने वाले 2014 और 2024 के भारतीय चुनाव आयोग के निर्देशों का उल्लेख किया।
