India's Department of Telecommunications will implement a SIM binding rule next year. This security measure aims to prevent online and digital fraud by verifying the link between a SIM card and the device it is used on. SIM binding ensures that the user of a mobile number is accessing services on the same device where the number was verified. Unlike OTPs, which confirm control over a number, SIM binding checks the relationship between the device and the SIM.
