Scotch whisky prices in India have seen their first significant drop, with brands like Johnnie Walker Black Label and J&B becoming cheaper due to reduced import tariffs under the India-UK free trade agreement. The import tariff on British whisky has been halved from 150% to 75%, with further reductions planned over the next decade. This tariff cut has led to price reductions in states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, and Uttar Pradesh. The move by major producers Diageo and Pernod Ricard could increase competition for Indian single malt brands.

भारत में स्कॉच व्हिस्की की कीमतों में पहली बार बड़ी गिरावट देखी गई है। इंडिया-यूके मुक्त व्यापार समझौते के तहत आयात शुल्क कम होने से Johnnie Walker Black Label और J&B जैसे ब्रांड सस्ते हो गए हैं। ब्रिटिश व्हिस्की पर आयात शुल्क 150% से घटकर 75% कर दिया गया है, और अगले दशक में इसमें और भी कटौती की योजना है। इस शुल्क कटौती से महाराष्ट्र, राजस्थान, गोवा और उत्तर प्रदेश जैसे राज्यों में कीमतें कम हुई हैं। प्रमुख उत्पादकों Diageo और Pernod Ricard के इस कदम से भारतीय सिंगल माल्ट ब्रांडों के लिए प्रतिस्पर्धा बढ़ सकती है।
