Indian Markets Open Lower Amid Broad Selling

Indian benchmark indices began the week on a weak note, with the Nifty falling below the 22,800-mark due to widespread selling. Analysts suggest a break below 22,700 could trigger further declines towards 22,400, a key support level. The India VIX, a fear gauge, surged 12.1% to 13.64. Foreign portfolio investors were net sellers of Rs 5,353 crore, while domestic institutional investors bought Rs 5,189 crore. The rupee depreciated by 28 paise to close at 96.03 against the US dollar.
