A rare 1,500-year-old Vishnu idol and two other antiquities have gone missing from the Mukteshwar Mahadev temple in Madhubani, Bihar. Intach-Bihar has requested an FIR and legal action, alleging the priests removed the artefacts. The missing items include a Vishnu idol, a Mahishasura Mardini Durga idol, and a Vishnu sculpture pedestal. The Vishnu idol, discovered in 2016, is believed to be from the Gupta period and is considered unique in Bihar. The state archaeology directorate has pledged to cooperate with the district administration.
