At least 37 suspected illegal miners have died in custody in Nigeria's north-central Niger State. Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago confirmed the tragic incident, stating a committee of inquiry has been established. The detainees were arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday for suspected illegal mining.
