Pakistan-Made Fairness Creams Popular in Bihar, Bengal Border Areas; Health Concerns Raised

Pakistan-manufactured fairness creams like ‘Gori Beauty’ and ‘Chandani Whitening’ are gaining popularity in border districts of Bihar and West Bengal, raising concerns over smuggling and health risks. The illegal trade was exposed after the Sashastra Seema Bal seized a large consignment of banned cosmetic products allegedly smuggled via Nepal. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation has alerted authorities to strengthen border surveillance. Investigations reveal the creams contain harmful heavy metals like mercury at levels exceeding prescribed limits and lack valid registration certificates for import into India.

पाकिस्तान में बनीं 'गोरी ब्यूटी' और 'चांदनी व्हाइटनिंग' जैसी फेयरनेस क्रीम बिहार और पश्चिम बंगाल के सीमाई जिलों में लोकप्रिय हो रही हैं, जिससे तस्करी और स्वास्थ्य जोखिमों को लेकर चिंताएं बढ़ गई हैं। नेपाल के रास्ते तस्करी कर लाए गए प्रतिबंधित कॉस्मेटिक उत्पादों की बड़ी खेप सशस्त्र सीमा बल द्वारा जब्त किए जाने के बाद अवैध व्यापार का खुलासा हुआ। सेंट्रल ड्रग्स स्टैंडर्ड कंट्रोल ऑर्गनाइजेशन ने अधिकारियों को सीमा पर निगरानी बढ़ाने के लिए सतर्क किया है। जांच से पता चला है कि क्रीमों में पारा जैसी हानिकारक भारी धातुएं निर्धारित सीमा से अधिक मात्रा में हैं और भारत में आयात के लिए वैध पंजीकरण प्रमाण पत्र नहीं हैं।
