Indian Stocks Surge as US Jobs Data Eases Rate Hike Fears

Hindustan Times - Business · business

Indian benchmark equity indices, Sensex and Nifty, closed higher on Monday, driven by softer-than-expected US jobs data. This eased concerns about aggressive monetary tightening by the US Federal Reserve, boosting investor confidence and risk appetite across emerging markets. The BSE Sensex gained 472.77 points to settle at 72,382.47, while the NSE Nifty climbed 133.80 points to end at 22,555.75. Major gainers included ITC and Bharti Airtel, while HCL Tech and Infosys saw declines. The market recovery was also supported by easing crude oil prices.
