Russia Doubles Depleted Uranium Processing Capacity

Russia has launched a new facility at the Electrochemical Plant in Zelenogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Region, to process depleted uranium hexafluoride. This marks the second such facility in the country and will double Russia's annual processing capacity to 20,000 tons. The technology converts depleted uranium into a chemically safe form, ensuring secure storage without environmental risks. Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev stated this is a landmark event for the nation's nuclear industry.
