A Kerala passenger took the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to the consumer commission after receiving ₹1 less than his entitled refund on a cancelled train ticket. The passenger had booked an AC three-tier ticket for ₹553 and was refunded ₹340 instead of ₹341 after cancellation charges and GST. The Kasaragod District Consumer Commission ordered IRCTC to pay the passenger ₹3,100, including the ₹1 shortfall, ₹100 compensation, and ₹3,000 litigation costs. The commission cited deficiency in service and unfair trade practice for the error.
