This travel expenditure is almost three times the monthly take-home salary of an entry-level IT fresher in the city, which ranges from ₹22,000 to ₹27,000. The couple's rent and maintenance of ₹60,000 also exceeds twice a fresher's monthly earnings. They manage finances as 'permanent roommates,' not tracking individual expenses.
