Chhattisgarh has officially designated the unique Orange Oakleaf butterfly as its first state butterfly. This decision was approved by the State Wildlife Board, recognizing the insect's remarkable camouflage and vibrant colours. When its wings are closed, the butterfly perfectly resembles a dry leaf, making it difficult to spot in its natural habitat. However, upon opening its wings, it reveals striking shades of deep blue, orange, and black. This declaration marks a significant step in celebrating and protecting the state's unique biodiversity.
