Ghaziabad police have arrested four individuals for allegedly operating an extortion racket that collected approximately ₹6.5 crore using 130 "hired" bank accounts. The suspects, from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, reportedly made random video calls, edited them into objectionable content, and then blackmailed victims for money. They also utilized AI to create fake videos and operated the scheme since 2023. Investigations revealed the racket targeted victims, including an NRI from Canada, by demanding transfers to various bank accounts, some opened with fake documents.
