Gomti River Likely to Recede Today After Two Weeks of Flooding
Times of India · environment
The Gomti River is expected to begin receding from Lucknow on Thursday, offering relief after nearly two weeks of inundation in low-lying areas. Water levels at key upstream gauge stations have started falling, indicating the flood wave has largely passed the state capital. While the river showed a marginal rise on Wednesday due to delayed upstream runoff, it remained well below warning and danger levels. Officials attribute the prolonged flooding to factors including encroachment on floodplains and inadequate drainage.
