Mumbai RTO Cracks Down On Private Bus Fare Surge Ahead Of Diwali

RTO has initiated a special enforcement drive across Maharashtra to curb exorbitant fare hikes by private tourist bus operators ahead of the Diwali festival. Passengers have reported ticket prices doubling or tripling, with some fares reaching Rs 3,000 to Rs 7,000. The RTO has reminded operators that they cannot charge more than 1.5 times the MSRTC fare for similar services. Inspection teams are verifying fare charts, permits, and safety equipment, warning of strict action against violators.
