SC/ST Groups Condemn Karnataka HC Verdict Striking Down Enhanced Reservation

Various Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe organisations in Karnataka have voiced strong disappointment following the High Court's decision to invalidate the enhanced reservation. Community representatives argue that sacrificing SC/ST quotas to maintain a 50% cap is unfair, especially when OBC reservations remain high. They criticised the previous BJP government for not securing Ninth Schedule protection for the reservation law and urged the current Congress government to challenge the verdict in the Supreme Court.

कर्नाटक में विभिन्न अनुसूचित जाति (SC) और अनुसूचित जनजाति (ST) संगठनों ने बढ़ी हुई आरक्षण को अमान्य करने के हाई कोर्ट के फैसले के बाद भारी निराशा व्यक्त की है। समुदाय के प्रतिनिधियों का तर्क है कि 50% की सीमा बनाए रखने के लिए SC/ST कोटे का बलिदान करना अनुचित है, खासकर जब OBC आरक्षण अधिक बना हुआ है। उन्होंने पिछले BJP सरकार की आलोचना की कि उसने आरक्षण कानून के लिए नौवीं अनुसूची सुरक्षा हासिल नहीं की और वर्तमान कांग्रेस सरकार से सुप्रीम कोर्ट में फैसले को चुनौती देने का आग्रह किया।
