IAP Advises Against Early Antibiotic Use For Fever

The Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) has advised parents against administering antibiotics to children at the first sign of fever. Paediatricians suggest close monitoring and investigations only if the fever persists for four to five days. Specialists discussed fever management, appropriate tests, and warning signs indicating serious illness. They also cautioned against unnecessary combinations of painkillers like ibuprofen or mefenamic acid with paracetamol. This guidance aims to prevent antibiotic resistance and ensure appropriate treatment for childhood fevers.

इंडियन एकेडमी ऑफ पीडियाट्रिक्स (IAP) ने माता-पिता को सलाह दी है कि वे बच्चों में बुखार के पहले संकेत पर एंटीबायोटिक न दें। बाल रोग विशेषज्ञों का सुझाव है कि बुखार चार से पांच दिनों तक बना रहने पर ही करीबी निगरानी और जांच की जानी चाहिए। विशेषज्ञों ने बुखार प्रबंधन, उचित परीक्षण और गंभीर बीमारी के चेतावनी संकेतों पर चर्चा की। उन्होंने पैरासिटामोल के साथ आइबुप्रोफेन या मेफेनामिक एसिड जैसी दर्द निवारक दवाओं के अनावश्यक संयोजन के खिलाफ भी चेतावनी दी। इस मार्गदर्शन का उद्देश्य एंटीबायोटिक प्रतिरोध को रोकना और बचपन के बुखार के लिए उचित उपचार सुनिश्चित करना है।
