A severe accident occurred on the Mumbai-Goa National Highway in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri district when a speeding container truck carrying iron rods collided with a police Bolero. The impact sent the police vehicle plunging 80 to 100 feet down a steep slope into the Anjanari river. Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Santosh Appasaheb Gaikwad, 51, and the container truck driver died from their injuries.
