Supreme Court Directs Calcutta HC to Expedite Rebel TMC MLAs Disqualification Plea

The Supreme Court has directed a petitioner seeking the speedy disqualification of 10 rebel Trinamool Congress MLAs to approach the Calcutta High Court. A bench headed by the Chief Justice of India asked the high court to constitute a division bench to hear the matter expeditiously. The petitioner had approached the top court after the Speaker failed to decide disqualification petitions filed in July. The Supreme Court emphasized that it cannot entertain all such petitions directly, urging litigants to follow the proper judicial process.
