Times of India · politics
India has strongly rejected allegations by UN special rapporteur Gina Romero regarding young people facing retaliation for discussing mental health and gender justice. India's first secretary, Anuj Swarup, stated that the claims were based on anonymous and unverified submissions, questioning the report's credibility. Swarup highlighted India's constitutional guarantees of freedom of assembly and expression, citing youth participation in political movements as evidence of civic space. He urged the rapporteur to verify information before making accusations against the world's largest youth population.
