The Supreme Court has ruled that no individual or group can claim an indefinite right to occupy a designated protest site. The court emphasized that public spaces are for everyone, and other citizens also have constitutional rights to use them. Chief Justice of India Surya Kant highlighted the need to balance the right to protest with the rights of daily-wage workers and businesses. The court issued notices regarding traders' requests to halt protests during the festive season and also addressed concerns about surveillance during demonstrations.
