Doctors Perform Non-Surgical Heart Defect Closure

Doctors at RMLIMS in Lucknow have successfully closed a congenital heart defect in an 11-month-old girl using a catheter-based procedure, avoiding open-heart surgery. The child had patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), a condition where a blood vessel remains open after birth. A small device was guided through a blood vessel to close the defect. This marks the first such procedure on a child under one year old at the institute's cardiology department. The child was discharged after observation, and the department plans to expand treatments for congenital heart defects.

लखनऊ के RMLIMS अस्पताल में डॉक्टरों ने एक 11 महीने की बच्ची के दिल की जन्मजात बीमारी को कैथेटर से ठीक कर दिया। अब ओपन-हार्ट सर्जरी की ज़रूरत नहीं पड़ी। बच्ची को पेटेंट डक्टस आर्टेरियोसस (PDA) था, जो जन्म के बाद भी एक रक्त वाहिका का खुला रह जाना है। एक छोटे डिवाइस से इसे बंद कर दिया गया। यह इस विभाग में एक साल से कम उम्र के बच्चे पर पहला सफल इलाज है। बच्ची को छुट्टी मिल गई है और विभाग ऐसे और भी इलाज करेगा।
