IRDAI to Curb High Commissions for Agents

IRDAI is planning to curb high commissions paid to insurance agents, a move aimed at preventing mis-selling. IRDAI Chairman Ajay Seth stated that large upfront commissions encourage agents to push unsuitable policies. The new plan involves reducing the first-year commission and distributing it over the policy term, incentivizing agents to maintain customer relationships. Additionally, a public insurance registry will track agents involved in mis-selling, and forced bundling of insurance with loans will be restricted.

बीमा एजेंटों को दिए जाने वाले ऊंचे कमीशन पर लगाम लगाने की योजना बना रहा है, जिसका उद्देश्य गलत बिक्री को रोकना है। IRDAI के चेयरमैन अजय सेठ ने कहा कि बड़े अग्रिम कमीशन एजेंटों को अनुपयुक्त पॉलिसियों को बेचने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करते हैं। नई योजना में पहले साल के कमीशन को कम करना और इसे पॉलिसी अवधि में वितरित करना शामिल है, जिससे एजेंटों को ग्राहक संबंध बनाए रखने के लिए प्रोत्साहन मिलेगा। इसके अतिरिक्त, गलत बिक्री में शामिल एजेंटों को ट्रैक करने के लिए एक सार्वजनिक बीमा रजिस्ट्री बनाई जाएगी, और ऋणों के साथ बीमा की जबरन बंडलिंग को प्रतिबंधित किया जाएगा।
