SAT Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram has rejected allegations that it administered 'clinical trial drugs' to children suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). Hospital Superintendent I. Riaz stated that a technical committee of experts decided to provide a less expensive, generic version of the SMA drug instead of the costly imported original. He emphasized that the generic drug meets all regulatory and quality standards and has been available in the market for about a year. Riaz appealed to stop spreading rumours that could cause anxiety among patients and their families.
