The Reserve Bank of India is considering introducing polymer banknotes to enhance currency durability and reduce replacement costs. Manufacturers have been invited to bid for specialized plastic substrate materials. Polymer notes are known for their superior resistance to moisture and dirt compared to traditional paper currency.

भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक (RBI) अब प्लास्टिक के नोट लाने पर विचार कर रहा है। इससे नोट ज़्यादा टिकाऊ बनेंगे और उन्हें बदलने का खर्च भी कम होगा। इसके लिए प्लास्टिक बनाने वाली कंपनियों को टेंडर भी दिए गए हैं। ये प्लास्टिक के नोट कागज़ के नोटों के मुकाबले नमी और गंदगी को ज़्यादा बेहतर तरीके से झेल पाते हैं।
