Gold FoF Investment Curbs Lead Investors to Alternatives

Several Indian fund houses have temporarily halted new investments in Gold Fund of Funds (FoFs) since mid-October, impacting lump-sum investments, SIPs, and switch-ins. While reasons are undisclosed, industry experts suggest it may be due to concerns over rising gold imports and strong inflows into gold investment products. Gold ETFs, which are backed by physical gold, are seen as a primary alternative. Unlike Gold FoFs, Gold ETFs do not require a demat account and typically have lower costs for investors.
