बेंगलुरु में NLSIU दीक्षांत समारोह में चीफ जस्टिस सूर्यकांत ने एक अहम बात कही। उन्होंने कहा कि 'कुछ बाहरी ताकतों द्वारा पैदा की गई अप्रत्याशित और दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण परिस्थितियों' के कारण अनिश्चितता का माहौल बन गया था। इस अनिश्चितता के कारण ऐसा लग रहा था कि कार्यक्रम योजना के अनुसार आगे नहीं बढ़ पाएगा। चीफ जस्टिस की यह टिप्पणी विश्वविद्यालय में उनके खिलाफ छात्रों के विरोध प्रदर्शनों के संदर्भ में आई।
