The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated a two-month night blood survey targeting construction workers and migrant labourers to detect lymphatic filariasis. The survey, which began on Thursday, involves collecting blood samples between 9 pm and midnight. This proactive measure is being taken despite Pune not being considered an endemic area, with only seven old cases reported. The drive aims to identify infected individuals early and prevent local transmission, especially given the influx of workers from filariasis-prevalent states.

पुणे म्युनिसिपल कॉर्पोरेशन (PMC) ने फाइलेरिया का पता लगाने के लिए निर्माण श्रमिकों और प्रवासी मजदूरों को लक्षित करते हुए दो महीने का रात का ब्लड सर्वे शुरू किया है। गुरुवार को शुरू हुए इस सर्वे में रात 9 बजे से आधी रात तक खून के नमूने लिए जाएंगे। यह कदम इसलिए उठाया जा रहा है क्योंकि पुणे को फाइलेरिया का स्थानिक क्षेत्र नहीं माना जाता है, और केवल सात पुराने मामले ही सामने आए हैं। इस पहल का उद्देश्य संक्रमित व्यक्तियों की शीघ्र पहचान करना और स्थानीय प्रसार को रोकना है, खासकर फाइलेरिया-प्रवण राज्यों से श्रमिकों के आने को देखते हुए।
