Toddlers Peeking From Behind Legs Show Dual Emotions, Psychology Says
TOI - Lifestyle · lifestyle
Psychology suggests that toddlers who hide behind a parent's legs but peek at guests are experiencing a mix of curiosity and uncertainty. This behaviour allows them to observe a new person from a safe distance without immediate interaction. While a child might be interested in a visitor, they also need time to feel comfortable approaching them. This cautious approach, known as behavioural inhibition, is a normal part of social development, where children use parents as a point of reassurance while processing new social situations.
