These directions are believed to bring stability and balance. Conversely, the north-east (Ishaan) corner should be kept light and open, avoiding excessive heavy furniture. This principle also applies to overhead water tanks, which should be in the southwest, not the northeast. Placing heavy items correctly is thought to maintain harmony within the home.
