India's Forex Reserves Plummet $18.3 Billion, Marking Record Weekly Decline
Business Standard · business
India's foreign exchange reserves saw their largest weekly drop on record, falling by $18.3 billion to $747.6 billion in the week ending September 25. This significant decline follows previous decreases, with total reserves now down approximately $38.2 billion over three weeks. The Reserve Bank of India has been intervening in the foreign exchange market to support the rupee amid rising crude oil prices and higher US Treasury yields. Foreign currency assets and gold reserves also contributed to the overall decrease in the nation's reserves.
