Greens Demand Protection For Collector Facing Threats

Ten environmental groups in Kerala have demanded an end to alleged threats and smear campaigns against the Idukki District Collector. The Collector is implementing Supreme Court and High Court orders to remove illegal obstructions on government land, including those blocking elephant corridors. The groups stated the State government should initiate contempt of court proceedings against politicians and the Idukki Diocese for allegedly threatening Collector Dinesan Cheruvatt. They emphasized that no religious authority is above the law and called for transparency in inspections.

केरल के दस पर्यावरण समूहों ने इडुक्की डिस्ट्रिक्ट कलेक्टर के खिलाफ कथित धमकियों और बदनामी अभियानों को बंद करने की मांग की है। कलेक्टर सरकारी जमीन पर अवैध कब्जों को हटाने के लिए सुप्रीम कोर्ट और हाई कोर्ट के आदेशों का पालन कर रहे हैं, जिनमें हाथियों के गलियारों को रोकने वाले भी शामिल हैं। समूहों ने कहा कि राज्य सरकार को कथित तौर पर कलेक्टर दिनेश चेरुवेट को धमकी देने वाले राजनेताओं और इडुक्की डायोसिस के खिलाफ अदालत की अवमानना की कार्यवाही शुरू करनी चाहिए।
