California Crews Find 45-Million-Year-Old Fossil

Construction workers in Oceanside, California, have unearthed fossilized bones believed to be from a massive hoofed mammal that lived up to 45 million years ago. The discovery includes limb bones, ribs, and fragments found about 12 feet underground during an infrastructure project. Paleontologists are examining the remains, which could belong to a prehistoric 'thunder beast' or a 'swamp rhino.' Further study is needed to confirm the exact species of this ancient creature. The fossils were found within the Santiago Formation, a geological layer dating back to the Eocene Epoch.
