SCI to help India become top shipping nation: Minister Sonowal

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal stated that the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) will be instrumental in India's ambition to become a leading global shipping nation. He emphasized the country's shift towards domestic shipbuilding and called upon SCI to spearhead efforts in building self-reliant, competitive maritime capacity. SCI, founded in 1961, has grown into a diversified enterprise operating 58 vessels. The company's Profit After Tax is projected to exceed ₹2,000 crore this fiscal.

केंद्रीय मंत्री सर्बानंद सोनोवाल ने कहा कि शिपिंग कॉर्पोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया (SCI) भारत की एक प्रमुख वैश्विक शिपिंग राष्ट्र बनने की महत्वाकांक्षा में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाएगा। उन्होंने देश के घरेलू जहाज निर्माण की ओर बढ़ते रुख पर जोर दिया और SCI से आत्मनिर्भर, प्रतिस्पर्धी समुद्री क्षमता के निर्माण में प्रयासों का नेतृत्व करने का आह्वान किया। 1961 में स्थापित SCI, 58 जहाजों का संचालन करने वाला एक विविध उद्यम बन गया है। कंपनी के लाभ कर पश्चात (Profit After Tax) इस वित्तीय वर्ष में ₹2,000 करोड़ से अधिक होने का अनुमान है।
