Man's 20-Year Spitfire Restoration Project Sells For £18,000 After His Death
Times of India - India · india
Peter Arnold, known as “Mr Spitfire,” spent over two decades restoring a historic aircraft fuselage in his UK garage. He collected parts and meticulously assembled the Supermarine Spitfire F Mk 22, identified as PK519, using surviving wreckage. Arnold, who passed away in 2025 at 83, never saw the project completed. The unfinished aircraft fuselage was recently auctioned in England for £18,000. His lifelong passion for aviation, sparked in childhood near an RAF station, led him to document hundreds of crash sites and collect numerous aircraft parts.
