Delhi HC Upholds IAF Decision to Withhold PM Modi, Manmohan Singh Foreign Visit Details

The Delhi High Court has upheld the IAF decision to deny access to records of foreign visits by Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Manmohan Singh. The court set aside a Central Information Commission order that had directed the IAF to disclose Special Flight Returns, even after redacting names. Justice Amit Mahajan ruled that redacting details would not necessarily eliminate potential security risks. The court emphasized that the right to information is not absolute and must be balanced against national security interests.

दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट ने प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी और मनमोहन सिंह की विदेशी यात्राओं के रिकॉर्ड तक पहुंच से इनकार करने के IAF के फैसले को बरकरार रखा है। अदालत ने Central Information Commission के उस आदेश को रद्द कर दिया जिसमें IAF को Special Flight Returns का खुलासा करने का निर्देश दिया गया था, भले ही नाम हटा दिए गए हों। जस्टिस अमित महाजन ने फैसला सुनाया कि विवरण को हटाने से जरूरी नहीं कि सुरक्षा जोखिम खत्म हो जाएं। अदालत ने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि सूचना का अधिकार पूर्ण नहीं है और इसे राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा हितों के साथ संतुलित किया जाना चाहिए।
