Russia Stood With India During Crises, Says EAM S. Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar defended India's relationship with Russia, stating that Moscow has consistently supported India during threats to its security and territorial integrity. He recalled that during the 1950s, when many nations sided with Pakistan's military regime, Russia and the Soviet Union supported India. Jaishankar noted that Europe's perspective on Russia differs from India's due to historical experiences. He also informed a parliamentary committee about plans to enhance trade, investment, and energy cooperation with Russia, emphasizing India's priority to protect consumer interests by diversifying energy sources.

विदेश मंत्री एस. जयशंकर ने रूस के साथ भारत के संबंधों का बचाव करते हुए कहा कि मॉस्को ने सुरक्षा और क्षेत्रीय अखंडता के लिए खतरों के दौरान लगातार भारत का समर्थन किया है। उन्होंने याद दिलाया कि 1950 के दशक में, जब कई देश पाकिस्तान के सैन्य शासन के साथ थे, तब रूस और सोवियत संघ ने भारत का समर्थन किया था। जयशंकर ने कहा कि ऐतिहासिक अनुभवों के कारण यूरोप का रूस पर दृष्टिकोण भारत से अलग है। उन्होंने एक संसदीय समिति को रूस के साथ व्यापार, निवेश और ऊर्जा सहयोग बढ़ाने की योजनाओं के बारे में भी सूचित किया, और ऊर्जा स्रोतों में विविधता लाकर उपभोक्ता हितों की रक्षा को भारत की प्राथमिकता बताया।
