Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi Seeks Bail, Cites CCB Demand for 10 Years of IT Returns

Former School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has approached the Madras High Court seeking anticipatory bail in an alleged ₹100 crore fraud case. He informed the court that the Chennai Central Crime Branch (CCB) had demanded income tax returns for himself, his wife, and mother-in-law for the past 10 assessment years. Poyyamozhi stated he had partially complied, submitting returns from 2019-20 onwards for himself, 2017-18 for his wife, and 2022-23 to 2025-26 for his mother-in-law. He cited a change in auditor as the reason for delays in submitting older documents.

पूर्व स्कूल शिक्षा मंत्री अनबिल महेश पोय्यमोज्ही ने कथित ₹100 करोड़ के धोखाधड़ी मामले में मद्रास हाई कोर्ट से अग्रिम ज़मानत मांगी है। उन्होंने कोर्ट को बताया कि चेन्नई सेंट्रल क्राइम ब्रांच (CCB) ने उनसे, उनकी पत्नी और सास के पिछले 10 मूल्यांकन वर्षों के आयकर रिटर्न की मांग की थी। पोय्यमोज्ही ने कहा कि उन्होंने आंशिक रूप से अनुपालन किया है, जिसमें खुद के लिए 2019-20 से, पत्नी के लिए 2017-18 से, और सास के लिए 2022-23 से 2025-26 तक के रिटर्न जमा किए हैं। उन्होंने पुराने दस्तावेज़ जमा करने में देरी का कारण ऑडिटर में बदलाव बताया।
