सीबीआई ने उत्तर प्रदेश के मुजफ्फरनगर में अज्ञात पुलिसकर्मियों के खिलाफ एक हिस्ट्री-शीटर के बहराइच जेल से रिहा होने के बाद गायब हो जाने के मामले में केस दर्ज किया है। इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट ने स्थानीय पुलिस की जांच और रिकॉर्ड में हेरफेर के आरोपों पर गंभीर सवाल उठाए थे। हिस्ट्री-शीटर, मुत्तलिव, को कथित तौर पर जमानत मिलने के बाद पुलिस ने हिरासत में ले लिया था। अदालत को वारंट के संबंध में पुलिस के बयानों में विसंगतियां मिलीं और एक निष्पक्ष जांच की चिंताओं के कारण मामले की जांच सीबीआई को सौंप दी।
