An exhibition titled 'Cursed! The Power of Magic in the Ancient World' is exploring the evolution of magic from ancient belief to modern trickery. The exhibition, which has travelled from Ohio to New York, features around 75 artefacts dating back to Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Rome. These include sculptures, amulets, an Egyptian clay bowl, and a 'curse figure' commissioned by a pharaoh. Curator Jeffrey Spier highlights that early magic was about belief and attempts to control the uncontrollable, with widespread use for love, protection, and cursing.
