J&K Assembly Passes Statehood Restoration Resolution

The Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly has passed a resolution demanding the urgent restoration of full statehood. This move occurred amid protests and a walkout by BJP legislators. The resolution was moved by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and passed despite opposition from the BJP. Jammu and Kashmir has been a Union Territory since August 2019, following the abrogation of Article 370. BJP members protested the resolution, alleging procedural violations by the Speaker.

जम्मू और कश्मीर की विधानसभा ने पूर्ण राज्य का दर्जा तत्काल बहाल करने की मांग करने वाला एक प्रस्ताव पारित किया है। यह कदम भाजपा विधायकों के विरोध प्रदर्शन और वॉकआउट के बीच उठाया गया। यह प्रस्ताव मुख्यमंत्री उमर अब्दुल्ला ने पेश किया था और भाजपा के विरोध के बावजूद पारित हो गया। अगस्त 2019 में अनुच्छेद 370 को निरस्त करने के बाद से जम्मू और कश्मीर एक केंद्र शासित प्रदेश रहा है। भाजपा सदस्यों ने स्पीकर द्वारा प्रक्रियात्मक उल्लंघन के आरोप लगाते हुए प्रस्ताव का विरोध किया।
