The Lokpal has dismissed a complaint alleging misuse of the PM CARES Fund due to a lack of specific evidence. The anti-corruption ombudsman stated the complainant failed to provide prima facie material facts to warrant a corruption probe. However, the Lokpal has permitted the complainant to submit a fresh plea with credible and verifiable facts. The order, passed by a bench led by Justice AM Khanwilkar, emphasized that initiating a preliminary inquiry requires genuine and verifiable facts. The Lokpal refused to conduct a "roving or misdirected" investigation.
