Kerala Forest Minister Urges Calm Over ESA Notification

Kerala Forest Minister Shibu Baby John has urged the public not to spread baseless fears regarding the Eco-Sensitive Area (ESA) notification. He assured that the government is committed to excluding inhabited areas from the final notification. The minister also stated that a policy for containment, mitigation, and compensation will be implemented to address human-wildlife conflict. The Association of Planters of Kerala requested a crop destruction compensation scheme similar to motor insurance and an increase in land diversification allowance.

केरल के वन मंत्री शिबू बेबी जॉन ने जनता से इको-सेंसिटिव एरिया (ईएसए) अधिसूचना को लेकर निराधार डर न फैलाने का आग्रह किया है। उन्होंने आश्वासन दिया कि सरकार अंतिम अधिसूचना से आबादी वाले इलाकों को बाहर रखने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। मंत्री ने यह भी कहा कि मानव-वन्यजीव संघर्ष को दूर करने के लिए रोकथाम, शमन और मुआवजे की नीति लागू की जाएगी। एसोसिएशन ऑफ प्लांटर्स ऑफ केरल ने मोटर बीमा के समान फसल विनाश मुआवजा योजना और भूमि विविधीकरण भत्ते में वृद्धि का अनुरोध किया है।
