The Kerala government has halted its decision to reinstate DSP A Umesh, who was suspended over sexual assault allegations. The move followed strong opposition from Congress functionaries and party workers who questioned the officer's return to service. Kozhikode DCC president K Praveen Kumar and other leaders conveyed their objections to the home minister. The home minister subsequently directed the department to keep the reinstatement order in abeyance. Umesh was previously suspended for allegedly misusing his position and accepting bribes.
