Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann congratulated MLA Pargat Singh on his appointment as the Punjab Congress chief. Mann, a hockey fan, referred to Singh as 'Captain Sahib' in the assembly, recalling his past leadership of the Indian hockey team. He humorously wished that Singh's Congress colleagues would pass him the ball as effectively as in hockey, enabling successful 'goals'. Pargat Singh, a former hockey captain and three-time MLA, stated he would lead the party inclusively. His appointment follows the resignation of Amrinder Singh Raja Warring amid internal party conflicts.
