GVMC Elections Begin: 66 File Nominations on Day 1, Mayor Post Vacant

As many as 66 candidates submitted nominations for various ward corporator seats on the first day of the GVMC elections. No nominations were filed for the mayoral position, with NDA partners still discussing ward-sharing arrangements. Several sitting corporators and aspiring candidates were caught off guard by the sudden announcement of ward reservations and gender categories. The YSRCP has named Varudu Kalyani for mayor, while the TDP has reportedly finalised a young woman candidate for the post.
