Two farmers in Coimbatore district have donated 35 cents of land, valued at lakhs of rupees, to expand the Chettikuttai tank. This generous contribution aims to increase the waterbody's storage capacity, which was previously insufficient. The expansion is part of the Athikadavu–Avinashi project and is expected to improve groundwater levels, support agriculture and livestock, and alleviate drinking water shortages. This initiative, lauded for its significance given the high land value in the region, marks the first phase of a larger land donation effort by local farmers.
