SC Pulls Up NCPCR Over EWS Quota Implementation

The Supreme Court has criticized the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) for its indifferent approach to implementing the 25% EWS quota in private schools. Justices PS Narasimha and Alok Aradhe emphasized the NCPCR's crucial role and questioned its lack of sensitivity. The court is monitoring the enforcement of its January 13 direction, which mandates private schools to admit economically weaker students. The bench noted that existing guidelines are not enforceable and urged the NCPCR and Centre to formulate proper rules.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने निजी स्कूलों में 25% EWS कोटे को लागू करने में राष्ट्रीय बाल अधिकार संरक्षण आयोग (NCPCR) के उदासीन रवैये की आलोचना की है। जस्टिस पीएस नरसिम्हा और आलोक आर्दे ने NCPCR की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका पर जोर दिया और उसकी संवेदनशीलता की कमी पर सवाल उठाए। कोर्ट निजी स्कूलों द्वारा आर्थिक रूप से कमजोर छात्रों को प्रवेश देने के अपने 13 जनवरी के निर्देश के प्रवर्तन की निगरानी कर रहा है। बेंच ने कहा कि मौजूदा दिशानिर्देश लागू करने योग्य नहीं हैं और NCPCR व केंद्र से उचित नियम बनाने का आग्रह किया।
