CCI Approves Kotak Bank's Acquisition of Deutsche Bank India Retail Business

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved Kotak Mahindra Bank's acquisition of Deutsche Bank's retail, private banking, and wealth management businesses in India. The deal, agreed upon in June, involves a slump sale where Kotak will acquire the businesses as functioning operations. Approximately 1,000 Deutsche Bank employees are expected to join Kotak, and 16 of its 17 Indian branches will become part of Kotak's network. The CCI's role is to assess if such acquisitions adversely affect competition in the Indian market.

भारतीय प्रतिस्पर्धा आयोग (CCI) ने कोटक महिंद्रा बैंक द्वारा ड्यूश बैंक के भारत में रिटेल, प्राइवेट बैंकिंग और वेल्थ मैनेजमेंट व्यवसायों के अधिग्रहण को मंजूरी दे दी है। जून में तय हुई इस डील में एक स्लम्प सेल शामिल है, जिसके तहत कोटक इन व्यवसायों को चालू संचालन के तौर पर अधिग्रहित करेगा। लगभग 1,000 ड्यूश बैंक कर्मचारी कोटक में शामिल होंगे, और इसके 17 में से 16 भारतीय ब्रांच कोटक के नेटवर्क का हिस्सा बन जाएंगे। CCI की भूमिका यह आकलन करना है कि क्या ऐसे अधिग्रहण भारतीय बाज़ार में प्रतिस्पर्धा को प्रतिकूल रूप से प्रभावित करते हैं।
