Farmers Block Jewargi Road With Tractors, Demand Swaminathan Commission Implementation

Farmers in Kalaburagi intensified their protest on Saturday, blocking Jewargi Road to demand the implementation of the Dr MS Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations and a support price of Rs 5,500 per tonne for sugarcane. Hundreds of farmers gathered at Ram Mandir Circle, shifting their protest tent to the middle of the highway. The demonstration has been ongoing since Tuesday, with police having previously removed a tent and detained some protesters. Farmers brought over 15 tractors to escalate the agitation, vowing to continue until their demands are met.

कलबुर्गी में किसानों ने शनिवार को अपना विरोध तेज कर दिया, ज्वारगी रोड को जाम कर दिया। वे डॉ. एम एस स्वामीनाथन आयोग की सिफारिशों को लागू करने और गन्ने का न्यूनतम समर्थन मूल्य 5,500 रुपये प्रति टन करने की मांग कर रहे हैं। राम मंदिर सर्कल पर सैकड़ों किसान इकट्ठा हुए और अपना विरोध टेंट हाईवे के बीचों-बीच लगा दिया। यह प्रदर्शन मंगलवार से चल रहा है, इससे पहले पुलिस ने एक टेंट हटा दिया था और कुछ प्रदर्शनकारियों को हिरासत में लिया था। किसानों ने आंदोलन को तेज करने के लिए 15 से अधिक ट्रैक्टर लाए और अपनी मांगों के पूरा होने तक जारी रखने की कसम खाई है।
